How do I change my OS from Windows ME to a newer version like XP?

You can do this by obtaining a retail copy of XP. Some stores may not carry it anymore, but it is a popular item in online stores.

Just pop the disc in, and follow the prompts on the screen. It will convert your file system to NTFS and install the new system software. How do I change my OS from Windows ME to a newer version like XP?

You will need to purchase or otherwise obtain a copy of Windows XP and install it. Since ME is known to be somewhat buggy you might find that your computer performs best if you just completely format (erase) the hard drive and start clean.

If you are unfamiliar with the process then you might skip that and just do an upgrade installation, which the XP disc should be able to guide you through.

Or if you have any friends who are computer savvy and have done this before then ask them for help when going through the process.
Hi, no problem its really simple, just make sure u have 512 mb ram. You can check that by right clicking on my computer and then click on properties. That should give u the memory and your processor should be of about 1ghz as well, that can be checked there along with ram.

You better quickly buy Microsoft Windows Xp, u can choose between Home and Professional, buy any u want.

Then choose between upgrade and a new install. Upgrade just replaces old files with new ones but I recommend a fresh install so the system will function smoothly.

If u have any questions contact me.

You could try linux as well,
