How can i tell what graphic card i am using? With linux?

I have been using windows 7 for a while but i wan to change to ubuntu linux but when i changed OS to linux... It couldnt find the driver for my graphic card... By the way it never showe what type he card it was. It always been saying ';defoult'; always even on windows. Is there a way for me to find what type of graphuc card i am using?How can i tell what graphic card i am using? With linux?
go to the pc's web site and look for your pc's specs. or just Google it . like e.g. Dell dimension 8100 and it will tell you what it came with unless you add a card to it (if it's a desktop) . or look inside it and see if there is a label on it .just be careful with poking around in it.How can i tell what graphic card i am using? In linux open a terminal and type the command

lspci |grep VGA

Be sure you type it exactly as above, VGA capitalized. The bar | is usually located on the same key as the \.

The instructions to install the ubuntu graphics driver are in the link below. Follow the directions for your card; ati or nvidia,etc.
