Changing OS. Need to preserve favorites & Bookmarks etc. How?

Copy the links in a notepad, then just send the notepad to an email of yours as an attachment.

Or write them all down on a piece of paper?

If you are running XP or Vista you should have a Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.

Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.

Start this on your old computer first, and make sure to mark it as the old computer when it asks.

You will need a way to move the information from pc to pc. I usually use a flash/jump drive, or burn the file it creates to a cd. Have this ready and be sure both pc will support the method you are using.

When it is done remove the item you have saved the file to. Go to the other pc (the new one) and find the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. Be sure to mark that this is the new computer and then it will want you to direct it to the file you saved.

It should pick it up - if it gives and error (sometimes it will), simply try it again from the new computer and pointing to the file again.

Hope That Helps!

I'd just back up your entire ';My Documents'; folder to CD. You probably want to clear out your web cache first though. No need in backing that stuff up and it could very easily be a gig or more of stuff. After you get your new OS laid down, you should be able to either import or copy it back over.

Good Luck
Presume from XP Pro to VISTA.

From IE 7 the fovritea are

stored in C:/Documents %26amp; settings //xxxx/favorites

a yellow colored star Icon. Make a copy to a CD.

If Bookmarks it means Firefox browser ( or other )

C:/Documents %26amp; settings/ application Data /Mozilla /FireFox etc.
