How to reboot the system?

I have a laptop with Windows Vista as the OS but the printer i bought is not compatible with Vista. Someone recommended me to change the OS from vista to Windows XP to meet the system requirement of the printer. My laptop is Comapaq presario with intel centrino processor. How can I reboot my laptop to change the OS?How to reboot the system?
actually, reboot is the other term for restarting the computer. if you want to change your OS, you must reformat/reprogram your computer.

Below is the step by step procedure in reformatting your computer or you can download the driver for your printer for Windows Vista @ http://www.hp.com then select the model of your printer or you can also use the auto detect features on their website and be sure the printer is plug in to your computer and must turn on.

System requirements:

Windows XP (SP1, SP2, Home Edition)

Intel Pentium III/ Intel Pentium IV/ AMD 750 MHZ or higher

64 MB of RAM (128mb or higher - recommended)

8 MB Video Card Memory (16 MB or higher - recommended)

10 GB HDD Hard Disk Memory or Higher

Windows Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate)

Intel Pentium 4/AMD 1.3 GHZ or higher

512 MB of RAM (1GB/2GB or higher - recommended)

128 MB Video Card Memory

40 GB HDD Hard Disk Memory

When reformatting, reinstalling the operating system, it is still better to backup your important files and drivers first before proceeding to installation. For driver Backup, i recommend using Driver Magician or Driver Genius Professional 2007.

Follow these instructions:

Desktop - Windows XP and Vista

1. Restart your computer then press Delete a number of times until the BIOS Setting will appear.

2. Change your boot sequence under Advance Options and can be configured usually located on the 2nd columm or second row depending on the BIOS installed in your PC.

3. Set your CD ROM as your Primary Boot Device then exit.

4. Apply and save the current settings then exit and your computer will restart automatically.

5. Insert the Windows Installation Disc then Wait until the computer prompts you to boot from a CD or DVD then press any key to boot on your Windows Installation Disc.

5. When the Windows setup appears, just follow the instructions to continue the Installation.

Note: If you have already backup your files, it is better to delete the partition C first then format that partition on the Windows Installation progress.

For Laptop Computers

Usually, if you insert the Windows Installation Disc, it will automatically boot from the Disc. When it prompts you to press any key, just press any key to boot from the disc and the Windows Setup will now appear.

Just follow the step by step instructions and that's it.How to reboot the system?
you need to go into the bios and set the boot order so the cd drive is before the hard drive. The bios can be entered by pressing a button during the startup before vista starts (usually it says press f1 or delete or something to enter setup). Then you need to insert an XP disc and restart the computer. This will install XP on your hard drive but there are some other effects you should be aware of.

First, doing this will delete all of your information. Any documents or files you have will be lost of not backed up on another disc or flash drive. Second, this will take some time to install. It does it mostly by itself but you will need to watch it in case anything happens.

Email me if you have any other questions about this, it's available on my profile.
I would highly recommend buying a new printer rather than resinstalling the OS. If you don't know how to do it then you're unlikely to get it right. Even if you do get XP on there you'll need to install all the correct drivers. Nightmare.

What make is the printer? All the well known brands either already have Vista drivers out or are developing them. Better still, list the exact make/model and I bet some kind soul on here will confirm the drivers situation.

Good luck if you choose to reinstall, look forward to seeing you on Yahoo Answers a lot more in the near future in that case...
In most laptops there is a reboot option when you turn on before it kicks into windows, if not press f11 after you have turned on this gives you the option to factory reset but you need to ensure you have backed up all you need to. This is how I have overcome a similar situation in the past but check your options and other answers first, Good luck.
I strongly suggest you try installing Windows XP as a second operating system as opposed to replacing Vista with XP.
