How will Mac OS upgrade affect older graphics programs?

I have an old Mac G4 that runs on OS 8.6--I am wanting to upgrade to OS X because I can't upload my Sony CyberShot camera, use my Lacie D2 DVD burner etc. on it. I'm not sure if I should, because I also have a bunch of older versions of programs like Quark Xpress 3.3, Photoshop 5.02 and Illustrator 8.0 that I don't want to lose--does anyone know if those will still work if I change the OS? Or does anyone know of software that will allow me to connect a new camera of burn discs in OS 8.6? ThanksHow will Mac OS upgrade affect older graphics programs?
Generally, a non-Intel Mac (G3, G4 %26amp; G5) running OS X will have no problem running ';Classic'; (those written to run under pre-OS X OSes) apps. They run under an emulation of OS 9.2.2.

See ';Specs';:
