Switching from Vista to XP on a HP laptop ?

Hi, I have decided to change to OS to windows XP, mainly for gaming reasons, since my laptop is not strong enough to run Vista and some games properly. What do I need to download first ? Some drivers ? I haven't got any cds with my laptop so I don't know how the PC will work after the reinstalation. Please give me some tips.Switching from Vista to XP on a HP laptop ?
If you get the Service pack 2 installation for XP you will be fine for installing. After that you will prob need to find manufacturer drivers for all of your devices. I would look at HP's support website and find out what kind of net card you have in your laptop first so you can get the driver and install it after you get XP on it. That way youll have internet to get the rest of the dirvers that you need.

Video card will work without drivers, it will just default to a standard VGA adapter.

If you dont get the SP2 XP installation and your hard drive is SATA, then it might not detect it.

Other than those 2 quirks, you will be set to go.Switching from Vista to XP on a HP laptop ?
You need to backup any documents, songs, photos, videos, etc. before you install XP.

Installing XP will wipe everything off the drive.

All you need to do, after you backup all your stuff, is put the XP disc in the CD ROM drive and restart the computer.

XP will show a screen asking if you want to install or repair. Pick install and in about 3 hours you will have XP!

If you installed any 3rd party software, like games or photo editing software, you will have to reinstall them.

It's that simple.
