I bought a laptop which came pre-installed with windows vista home premium. Now i want change the os to Windows XP.So please tell me how to do it?How to change os from vista to xp in a laptop that came preinstalled with vista?
Before doing this note that:
1. you will void any kind of warranty and support from the manufacturer if you change the operating system to Xp
2. if you can't find Xp drivers for it then you should stop. An operating system running without drivers can cause serious problems!
So the first step would be to search for Xp drivers for your modell. This can be an issue but with some help you may find them. If you can't, then as I said stop right here.
If you find them, then get a copy of kill disc and format the partition vista is installed on. I advise you not to format the partition that came with the recovery kit, because if you want to come back to Vista, the only way to do it in this case is to order a new recovery CD from the manufacturer.
After formating, boot your laptop with an XP installation disc and there you go.
If it can't find any partition available, be sure to disable Native SATA support from BIOS.How to change os from vista to xp in a laptop that came preinstalled with vista?
Boot from CD ROM with XP disc in the drive then F Disc the hard drive format it to NTFS, when this is done install XP.
you have to reformat your HD then install the Windows XP
The above post is correct, I have done it on several laptops. HOWEVER I have found one model of Toshiba, where I can't do anything to get a sound driver to work with XP. I guess the on board sound only has vista complatible drivers. The strange part is I can hook up a pair of USB headphones %26amp; hear sound. Cannot use the mini jack headphones or speakers. I am still working on it. Going to star this question %26amp; see if anyone else has ideas too.
The safest way is to reformat and install XP.
If you take your XP disk and load it into the drive - restart the PC and then follow the install instructions you will be given the option to format C:
Do this and allow XP to install and you will be done.
It is likely that you will need to find drivers for some of your peripherals.
You can't all the hardware is vista only sorry m8.
