i have pc but i want to change the OS...the OS of my computer is WIN98.I want to change it to WinXP..how change it and what is the effect of it...How to change OS???what is the effect if i change the OS?
The effect could be smoother computing, better compatibilty and a higher program stability. However, you should make sure that your computer can handle xp first (processor speed, ram, space, ect). Otherwise upgrading to xp would make it worse or not work at all.



If your computer came with windows 98 on it you may not be able to use an upgrade disc. Some computer manufacturers use OEM (original equipment manufacturer) copies of Windows when building thier computers. This version of windows DOES NOT allow upgrades, therefore you must buy the full version disc.

you just buy the new os you want to run insert the cd and follow the screen prompts, its like installing a game.

You just need to make sure your pc supports the new os, eg. windows vista
keep in mind that since it is a windows it HAS to be a windows upgrade, a mac will not be able to install and i don't quit know about linux and unix, but a windows upgrade will be ok.
Some of your programs mote not work, but you can use better ones know. I never tried upgradeing, but thats up to you. Make sure that you at least have 1 gig in it so that it dont seem to be running slow.
