Ok so I'm gone for the weekend. Come back and the internet is down. About an hour later it comes back on and I can't go on Xbox LIVE because the MTU is to low. This was odd because I had this problem when I first got my internet and fixed it by going into my netgear routers configuration by using the default password and changed it. Now I go onto my computer to change it, type in my ip, and now MikroTik shows up!!! For one I or nobody in the house installed this OS and now it's there. Worse even I did not know the password, which is now frustrating me because I pay for my Xbox LIVE service and I am not able to play because of an unexpected magical change of my routers OS. Anyways, I search around try the default password for Mikro Tik (admin and password left blank) and it says those are invalid. To me this makes no sense and it is extremely frustrating, care to enlighten me on the subject and how to log into my settings? Why did my router's OS change and help to fix?
try doing a hard reset on the routerWhy did my router's OS change and help to fix?
If you have wireless, it is possible someone is piggybacking and changed your OS via wireless, but i doubt it. A hard reset is probably the way to go.

Is it safe to change the japanese vista OS of a sony vaio laptop to an english vista OS?
I bought a Sony Vaio Laptop in Japan with a Japanese OS. I can read some of the characters and it was relatively cheap compared to the english counterpart so I chose the Japanese one, deciding I can change the OS later. But my friends told me I shouldn't manually change the OS of a Sony Vaio laptop because it has some sort of lock and that if I do, my laptop might be damaged beyond repair. How true is this? I'm beginning to have problems with the Japanese version especially in troubleshooting so I'm thinking of going through with the OS change anyway. But before that, can anyone verify my doubts on changing the OS of a Japanese Home Premium Version of Windows Vista in a Sony Vaio Laptop? Is it safe to change the japanese vista OS of a sony vaio laptop to an english vista OS?
I don't know about the lock problem, but you can download a language pack from microsoft to change the language without reinstalling, this is much easier. Is it safe to change the japanese vista OS of a sony vaio laptop to an english vista OS?

Build a os out of another?
ok i want to make a os but not out of scratch for now but i mean like editing almost everything in a windows or linux version to make it seem like i made it and by spending time doing that i will make my own from scratch but is there somthing that will help
this is what i want to do
change OS name
change boot screen
change GUI
keep file extensions
change animations that happen wen minimize maximize and close
change shutdown screen
change log on screen
change all icons to my own ( i know how to do that)
change start button or in linux apps places and system (ubuntu)
and things like that
i dont want to use programs that do that for you like windows blinds and theme xp because i learn nothing i want to learn how to go into the system and do thatBuild a os out of another?
Have you tried getting the source code for ubuntu?
Take a look at that and it has all the pics like log on screen and logo, changing that stuff is easy. If you dont know much about programming, then Id say some of that stuff will be pretty hard, but look on thw web, people do it all the time.Build a os out of another?
That's not ';building an OS,'; that's just re-skinning a pre-existing OS with your own graphics. If you try to do this with Windows then expect some very high-powered lawyers to knocking on your door in no time flat. If you do this with an open-source OS then you should pay VERY close attention to the license on every component of the OS you choose. You don't say if you're doing this project for fun or for money, so I'll assume you just want a project to tinker with. However, if you ask for a penny for this ';new'; OS and aren't *extremely* up front about the real components that you used then you're going to have thousands of annoyed open-source coders screaming for your head on a platter and high-powered lawyers from the EFF pretty much destroying you in court.

How to install ubuntu on to my computer? (different from other closely related questions)?
I am trying to change one of my computers from a old windows ME to ubuntu, but have failed trying. I have downloaded the iso and burned it onto a cd. I have already used the cd on another computer and have successfully changed os's with the cd, but I can't seem to be able to find out how to get to that screen that says what to boot from like my other one did.
Please help.
Thank you!How to install ubuntu on to my computer? (different from other closely related questions)?
Use Wubi to install Ubuntu from your Windows ME installation. It makes installing Ubuntu easy as pie. Also you will be able to uninstall Ubuntu from Windows ME. You can download it from here: http://wubi-installer.org/index.php
Maybe your cdrom drive isn't working properly or the boot sequence in the bios is wrong (bypassing the cdrom booting and going traight to booting from your harddrive) .
Please help.

How can i change the OS blind?
i change my monitor setting and now my monitor stays in standby even when i turn on my computer. And i have a ati RAGE2 graphics card i know i changed the setting from plug and play to something else i have a windows professionalHow can i change the OS blind?
Try restarting in ';safe mode';.
Power up the PC, then immediately start pressing the F8 key till you get the boot menu. Select start in safe mode.(no network support).
Then just reset back to plug-n-play monitor, or just delete it.
If you still can't see the screen in safe mode or not even see to get a boot menu, then you have a problem that is with the monitor, or your graphics card. The only way to check this is to try another card and/or monitor till you narrow down the exact problem.

Can i change mac OS x to windows vista if i want to?
I want to bay an apple laptop put I don't know how to work with mac os x, so can I change it to windows if I want?
and if you have mac os x can you tell me is every program work with it or there is some programs that does not work with it?
thanx :-)Can i change mac OS x to windows vista if i want to?
You should go search BootCamp. It's a program (still in its beta version) that allows you to install Windows XP alongside Mac OS X. Its functionality is, last time I fiddled with it, near-perfect, so for all intents and purposes, you can run Windows XP on your Mac if you have trouble getting used to OS X. I myself am planning to do this when I get enough money to buy a Mac.Can i change mac OS x to windows vista if i want to?
you cant put windows on a mac because it is not compatible with mac
Hi, a Mac with OSX is great but Windows Vista is not going to install on it because Vista is an OS thatruns on pc's not a macintosh. Macintosh computer run on a differrent architecture than IBM (International Business Machine) computer. They are built on the IBM architecture. This is why windows will not install on it.
OSX has all the applications u need and more stability but if u r looking for ur favourite third party applications then I doubt all of them will work on Mac because many software makers only design their products for Windows. Some of ur favourite software might be on windows and that might be bothersome for you.
There is a Mac software called bootcamp which is like vmware or virtual pc for regular computers, and that will help u install Windows Xp only so far on top of Mac OSX meaning while u running OSX u can use that software to load WIndows Xp because it will emulate or make xp think its installed on a pc. To tell u the truth that will take up a hell lot of ur system resources and u will just waste ur time as the performance of Xp will suck *** so installing Vista with all its required resources is impossible.
In my opinion buy a Mac OSX if u want security, reliabilty, but u r willing to sacrifice some of ur favourite software and games that only come for Windows. Windows is pretty stable as well now though. Plus remember u r still going to to have to learn with Mac OSX so I say stick with windows its way better in the long run, but the decision is upto you.
Good Luck! If u have any questions just contact me.
I believe that Gangseter is mistaken.
In years gone by, his assertion that you can only run Windows on a Mac in emulation was correct. About two years ago, however, Apple switched to using Intel chips instead of PowerPC chips. Thus, you can now install and run Windows on an intel mac through bootcamp without the slowdown of emulation (like you'd get through virtualPC).
So, if you use bootcamp, you can indeed boot into either Mac OS X or whatever version of Windows you choose to install.

How can I change my OS from windows vista to Windows XP?
Format the hard drive then install windows xp.How can I change my OS from windows vista to Windows XP?
If you have to ask how to do this, I would not advise you to mess around with partitioning your hard drive.
If Vista was ';bundled'; on your PC and you uninstall it to install XP, you will be without an operating system unless you buy XP.
Have you tried to get used to Vista? It makes learning a little easier if you set it to classic view which will make it resemble XP.
